Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez (born Sara Ramirez) is a Mexican American singer-songwriter and popular actress. Her mother was her primary caregiver in the USA and she was subject to many racial taunts that made her feel like a non-person. After she participated in an event at school and was given the highest praise for her singing at the age of 9 she began to grow more confident. It not only boosted her confidence but also changed the direction in which she went on to pursue her career. In 1992, she received her degree from New York's Julliard School. In 1993 she made her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. In the Broadway version of the original show Spamalot She played The Lady of The Lake which won the Tony Award as well as critical praise. She gained more recognition when she appeared in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. Apart from having a cult following as a singer, she released a solo and a longer piece. She has also spoken out in support of LGBT issues.
